Is Carbonara the same as Lasagne White sauce?

In this article, we will answer the question “Is Carbonara the same as Lasagne White sauce?”, how to make Carbonara sauce, how to make Lasagna Carbonara, and how to make Bechamel sauce.

Is Carbonara the same as Lasagne White sauce?

No, Carbonara and Lasagna White sauce or alfredo sauce are not the same. The key ingredients of the Carbonara sauce are guanciale, eggs, cheese such as Pecorino Romano or Parmesan, and freshly ground black pepper.

Due to the presence of the tiny particles of guanciale, Carbonara attains a crunchy texture and a pink appearance. Moreover, the presence of eggs gives Carbonara an off-white color with a slight yellow hue.

On the other hand, the Lasagna white sauce or simply white sauce, also known as Bechamel sauce is made from a roux.

The consistency of Bechamel sauce is much lighter than the Carbonara sauce. Moreover, bechamel sauce has a silky smooth texture, unlike Carbonara. Due to the presence of all basic ingredients, Bechamel sauce makes the base for many sauces, which is why it is called the “Mother of sauces”.
